Happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers, Grandmothers, Aunts, Cousins, Sisters and anyone else who has wiped a nose or whooped a child’s behind! It definately takes a village to raise a child and any parent can appreciate taking a break from parenting, even if it’s just for a second!
This Sunday I celebrated with my mother (of course) and made her breakfast! This is a tradition my little brother and I started 13 years ago when I was just twelve and he was six. Since my brother goes to school in NYC he couldn’t join us, luckily I had plenty of help from my youngest brother Monty who is five and my cousin Amazia who is 13 going on 21! We prepared steak, eggs and buttermilk biscuits Mmmmmm nice hot and warm just the way we like them! We also stopped at Starbucks to get coffee, just another special treat for my mom! I seasoned and grilled the steaks as Amazia cleaned up and set the table (she also helped me flip a few steaks and managed to get the perfect grill marks on them! I can’t even do that! Go Mazi!!!) Monty’s job was to mix the eggs and not make a mess and he didn’t! We were all very happy and relieved he didn’t spill anything! He also put cheese and seasoned the eggs (with supervision of course) After we enjoyed our delicious breakfast Monty had a special gift to give to my mom, he gave her some 24 karat gold earrings and she cried which made my Aunt Caroline cry and then I teared up a little (a bunch of babies!) After gift time I took Monty and Mazi home with me so my mom could go to the movies and Caroline could have some peace and quite, we came home just in time for the ice cream truck… great…. BUT he didn’t come down my block for some reason. Monty suggested we go and give him a piece of our minds… LOL!! That kid has been here before I swear! The movie was sold out so I only had Monty for a little over an hour before my mom picked him up, after a much needed nap Mazi and I headed to our Aunt Candice’s house for the Mother’s Day Cookout! Most of the women in the family came and we really enjoyed ourselves, we always have so much fun together! My Grandparents have 9 kids and 38 grandchildren so it’s always a party when were together! We talked, cracked jokes, danced and just enjoyed each others company like we always do… once again it was gift giving time and this year we all put in for a new designer purse for Moma, she received a brand new Michael Kors bag!! Apparently it was exactly what she needed because her bag broke that morning! Irony… All and all this was one of the best Mother’s Day Celebrations we’ve ever had, there was plenty of food and love filled in the room! Of course I snapped some pictures of the celebration, so ENJOY!!!
It’s the little things that touch your heart…
As my mom was getting laundry together I put a flower in her hair, she said “you never stop being a mother” very true just like I’ll always be a kid at heart! Lol!
There were too many photos for me to download one at a time so click and enjoy!
A special shout out to my Grandparents… without them NONE of us would be here
Love you Moma and Diddy!!
